The members of the jury met at Vista Alegre in Ílhavo to select the winner of the 2019 International Porcelain Illustration Award. This jury is composed of guest illustrator, Serge Bloch; Vista Alegre representative, Alda Tomás; publishing house Tcharan representatives, Adélia Carvalho and Marta Madureira; as well as representative of the municipality of Ílhavo, Luís Ferreira.

The jury awarded ten finalists, basing their final decision on the criteria of originality and creativity with regard to the interpretation of the proposed theme – Space – as well as on the quality of the technical execution and the adaptation of the decoration to the shape of the object. The finalists’ work will be part of the temporary exhibition at the Vista Alegre Museum, and of the corresponding catalogue. The selection aimed at mirroring the diversity of the presentations submitted and at valuing the various interpretations of the proposed theme.

The ten selected finalists were Ana Maria Sincu, Catarina Vieira, Eva Daniela Alves Vieira, Evelina Oliveira, Fatinha Ramos, Isabel Rocha Leite, Joanna Latka, Martinha Maia, Sara Bandarra and Teresa Rego.

Among the finalists, the jury decided to award Eva Daniela Alves Vieira the first prize. Her submission stood out from the others due to its poetic nature, its illustration’s rich narrative, as well as its graphic, plastic and conceptual originality.
In addition to the first prize, the jury decided to award an honorable mention to an illustration presented by Teresa Rego, who stood out due to her originality and graphic quality.
