Context
This regulation establishes the rules and criteria of the International Porcelain Illustration Award, a Vista Alegre Atlantis, SA and Tcharan publisher initiative in cooperation with the Ílhavo city council. The aim of the annual International Porcelain Illustration Award is to develop and promote porcelain illustration, combined with the reference Vista Alegre, a Portuguese brand of great national and international recognition.
Theme
For the International Porcelain Illustration Award 2019 1st Edition the chosen theme was“SPACE”.
Eligibility
This competition is open to all interested contestants aged 18 and over.
Registration
The registration period is from October 29, 2018 and December 31, 2018.
The participants should submit
their registration on www.piip.vistaalegre.com
After registration the participants will be informed about the contest’s terms and payment method which should be submitted by bank transfer ((additional bank fees may be charged on transfers from outside the EU). Each registration is subject to a fee of 50, 00€ and it will only be valid once the payment has been processed.
After payment and registration validation, the participant may pick up the piece which will serve as model for the illustration.
The participants may pick up the piece until December 31, 2018 at the following address: Museu Vista Alegre / 3830-292 Ílhavo. Alternatively, the participant may also request its shipment, which will be charged upon delivery.
Each contestant can to send up to three proposals, each of them subject to its own individual registration.
Submissão de trabalhos e respetivas características
The artworks must be submitted until 11:59pm on January 31, 2019.
The proposals must be submitted on www.piip.vistaalegre.com, abide to the 2019 theme ”SPACE” and contain the following elements:
a) Plan of the piece with the inserted illustration using the available templates on the contest’s website and respecting the boundaries for illustration. The plan should be submitted in JPG format, keeping the format and resolution of the original file (downloaded from the website).
b) Workpiece simulation with the illustration. This simulation must be submitted in JPG format and must not exceed 5MB
c) Any other information which the authors consider to be relevant for the understanding of their work.
Any proposals that do not meet the above-mentioned criteria and requirements will be excluded from the competition.
The participant warrants that he/she is the author and that he/she owns all copyrights of the submitted illustration or that those rights have been granted to him/her with the formal and express authorization from the owner.
Criteria
The submitted artworks will be judged based in the following criteria:
Jury and decision
The jury will be composed of a representative of Vista Alegre Atlantis, S.A., two representatives of the Tcharan publisher, a representative of Ílhavo City Council and a guest member of huge relevance within the international illustration scene.
The Jury reserves the right not to award any prize if it considers that none of the submitted artworks meet the minimum technical or artistic quality requirements.
The decisions of the jury will not be subject to appeal.
Prize
One illustration will be selected from those who have been submitted.
The winning illustration will be announced on April 24, 2019, on the official website www.piip.vistaalegre.com
The winner will be awarded a prize of 2.000€ (two thousand Euros) and a diploma. The prize money will be co-sponsored by the Ílhavo City Council.
The artworks of 10 (ten) participants will be selected to be part of an exhibition at the Vista Alegre Museum as well as of the exhibition’s catalogue.
Exhibition
10 (ten) contestants will be invited to send the original artworks for exhibition. The works will be applied onto the piece of porcelain which was selected for the contest and they will be offered to their authors at the end of the exhibition.
The jury reserves the right to narrow the number of selected artworks should it be considered that the proposals do not meet the minimum technical or artistic quality requirements.
The selected authors will be invited to participate in a ceramics painting workshop at the Vista Alegre factory, where they will be able to carry out their project. These pieces will become part of the Vista Alegre Museum collection.
The exhibition will be open from May 4th until August 30th, 2019.
Reproduction rights
The participants authorise the organization, with no restriction nor request for payment, to reproduce their illustrations in the catalogue and web site, posters and postcards,invitations and leaflets, press articles and television, as long as well integrated in the context of the award and its exhibition..
Vista Alegre Atlantis, SA reserves the right to choose one or more pieces from those selected by the jury, to be produced and commercialised by the Vista Alegre brand, the copyrights of which being protected in its own document and in accordance with the conditions to be agreed upon between Vista Alegre and the author.
Personal Data Protection
The personal data collected for this competition will be processed by Vista Alegre Atlantis SA as the responsible entity.
The collected data are intended for the registration of applications, prize processing and contacts for further similar initiatives. The data will be processed under the responsibility of the promoters and will be stored during the necessary period for the stated purposes to be fulfilled in accordance to all legal obligations.

According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the participants shall have the right to withdraw their consent at any time, which however, shall not affect the lawfulness of the processing based on consent before its withdrawal. The withdrawal of consent for the process of personal data will exclude the participant from the competition.
Regulation
The participation in the 1st Edition of the International Porcelain Illustration Award implies the unconditional acceptance of this regulation as well as of the decisions of the jury. Any question which is not covered by this regulation will be decided by the jury or the promoters of the competition.
The promoters reserve the right to make any amendments to this regulation, which will become effective immediately after being published.
