The International Porcelain Illustration Award is an initiative by Vista Alegre and Tcharan publisher in cooperation with the Ilhavo city council that seeks to praise the bond between Vista Alegre porcelain and illustration and its 1st Edition will be held in 2019. This annual award’s purpose is to promote porcelain illustration, encouraging new dialogues between illustration and ceramic material - a distinct support that breaks new ground for artistic exploration.

Over the last years Illustration has become increasingly important in the Vista Alegre porcelain. The collection "1 + 1 = 1", which connects Vista Alegre porcelain to writers and illustrators, the "2i Ilustradores Internacionais" project, the outcome of a partnership between Vista Alegre and Ilustrarte or the children's collections "Quando Eu nasci" and "There once was a dog”, are fine examples of the intimate relationship between the art of porcelain and illustration.

This award is part of the third edition of “Illustration à Vista”, an event which is jointly promoted by Vista Alegre and the Ílhavo City Council and that launches the challenge of thinking illustration in its infinite and unlikely variants in several cultural and public venues of the Ílhavo area.
